Traditional Dutch Stew with Beef Strips
For 4 servings.

2 boxes Beef Strips
500 gr of onions, cut in rings
2.5 dl water
2.5 dl balsamic vinegar
5 tablespoons apple butter
2 slices of gingerbread
3 bay leaves
2 cloves
3 sprigs thyme
coconut oil
salt and pepper

Fry the onion rings in a little coconut oil. Deglaze the fried onions with balsamic vinegar, add water and bring to a boil. Add the bay leaves, cloves and thyme and cook the sauce over low heat. Remove the herbs when the sauce is cooked. Crumble the gingerbread and add it with the apple butter to the sauce*. Season with salt and pepper. Fry the Beef Strips in a little oil until golden brown and add them to the sauce just before serving. Nice to serve with fresh fries and (vegan) mayonnaise.

* If the sauce is too thin, add some extra gingerbread. If the sauce is too thick, add a little water.
